Tomorrow Gets the Bill

Good Morning.

“The easiest choice today sometimes comes with a bill tomorrow.”

There is a remarkably efficient way to make certain problems disappear: decide that they're tomorrow's problem.

The email can wait. The laundry isn't going anywhere. The mysterious noise coming from the car will probably still be mysterious on Monday.

For a little while, this works beautifully.

Then tomorrow arrives, looking suspiciously like today, except now it has yesterday's problems waiting for it.

And the person who inherits the bill is still us.

Perhaps that's the flaw in the otherwise excellent concept of “future me.”

Sooner or later, the bill finds the right address.

Have a great weekend.

Longevity

The Long Game
One small thing for a longer life

Did You Know

Higher blood levels of omega-3 fats were linked to about two additional years of life.

In a study that followed nearly 2,700 older adults for 16 years, those with the highest blood levels of omega-3 fats found in fish had a lower risk of dying than those with the lowest. Researchers estimated a difference of about 2.2 years of remaining life after age 65. The study found an association, so it doesn’t establish that eating more fish will add those years.

This is what we leave you with. A thought to end the day, carry in your pocket, or come back to later. Nothing big. Just something to reflect on.

When the Plan Changes

Some opportunities become visible only after the original plan stops working.

We can become so invested in a particular outcome that we stop noticing what else might be possible.

Then something doesn't work out. A decision has to be reconsidered, and possibilities we once overlooked begin to look interesting.

Of course, disappointment doesn't automatically lead to something better.

But sometimes the plan we were determined to follow was also the reason we couldn't see another way forward.
