The View From Here
Good Morning.
Everyone Believes They're Being Reasonable From Inside Their Own Perspective.
Very few disagreements begin with someone thinking, I know I'm wrong, but I'm going to argue anyway.
Most people arrive at their conclusions for reasons that make sense to them. They have information we don't have, experiences we haven't lived, and priorities that may differ from our own. From where they're standing, their position often feels just as obvious as ours does from where we're standing.
That doesn't mean every opinion is equally valid or every decision deserves agreement.
But it does help explain why so many disagreements become frustrating. We're often trying to persuade someone who doesn't see themselves as unreasonable in the first place.
One of the most useful questions we can ask during a disagreement is not, "How could they think that?"
It's, "What would have to be true for that perspective to make sense?"
The answer may not change our mind.
But it often changes the conversation.
Sometimes understanding is more useful than agreement.
Have a great weekend

One small thing for a longer life
Did You Know
People who eat the widest variety of plants tend to have more diverse gut microbiomes than people who eat the same healthy foods every day.
When it comes to nutrition, repetition isn't always the goal. Different plants feed different microbes, which means variety can be just as important as choosing healthy foods in the first place.
